John is a survivor of Oceanic flight 815, which crashed on to the Island on September 22nd, 2004. Before the crash, John grew up in foster care but, later in life, he met his father, who conned him out of a kidney, ruined his relationship with his girlfriend and finally pushed him out of a window, breaking his back and confining him to wheelchair. John spent the next four years of his life paralyzed from the waist down and looking for his purpose in life. He was then told to attend an Australian Walkabout, after which he found himself aboard Flight 815. On the Island, he served as a friendly, caring mentor, giving Boone a purpose, helping Claire with her pregnancy and child, treating Charlie’s addiction, and teaching Walt skills. But his faith and questionable decisions sparked a rivalry with Jack.

Shannon is a survivor of Oceanic flight 815, which crashed on to the Island on September 22nd, 2004. Before the crash, Shannon had been accepted for a prestigious internship at the Martha Graham Dance Company in New York City. She was unable to go because she had been cut off by her stepmother, who also refused to give her any of her fathers money. Sometime after this, She spent time abroad in Paris. Later, she had used Boone for money and as a result of this, her love for him was revealed and they had a one-night stand. On the island, she was very selfish at times, refusing to help the other survivors, as she insisted they would be rescued. However, she assisted in trying to get a signal on the tranceiver, and used her French skills to translate Rousseau’s signal. She also had an athsma attack, when her inhaler ran out, but Sun eased her symptoms. She eventually formed a romantic relationship with Sayid, which helped her realize her selfishness and led to a change in attitude.

Boone is a survivor of Oceanic flight 815, which crashed on to the Island on September 22nd, 2004. Before the crash, Boone was the Chief Operating Officer of a wedding clothing subsidiary. Later, he had been used by Shannon for money and as a result of this, his love for her was revealed and they had a one-night stand. On the island, Boone would spend a lot of his time with Shannon before finally getting over his love for her and letting her go. He later became Locke’s apprentice when the two discovered the Hatch and formed a close bond.

Sun is a survivor of Oceanic flight 815, which crashed on to the Island on September 22nd, 2004. Before the crash, Sun and Jin’s marriage suffered because Jin oppressed her and they couldn’t conceive. She began taking English lessons and had an affair with Jae Lee. She planned to fake her own kidnapping and run away to America to start a new life, but ultimately decided to stay with Jin. On the island, Sun had to pretend to not know English since Jin was still unaware of this. The couple isolated themselves until Sun revealed that she spoke English. He shunned her, but they later reconciled. Despite Jin’s infertility off the island, Sun conceived Jin’s baby, which strengthened their marriage

Liam is the lead singer of the band Drive Shaft, and the older brother of Charlie Pace. As their band grew in popularity, They eventually heard themselves on the radio, but both Liam and Charlie became drug addicts. Because of Liam’s Drug addiction the band would decline in popularity. Liam later married Karen with who he had a daughter named Megan. He missed Megans birth because he was on drugs. Realizing he needed to turn his life around, Liam quit the band and moved to Australia where he was promised a job and where he would successfully undergo rehab.

Kate is a survivor of Oceanic flight 815, which crashed on to the Island on September 22nd, 2004. Before the crash, Kate grew up in rural Iowa. Her mother, Diane, and step-father, Sam, divorced when Kate was five, and Kate lived with her mother. Diane then married Wayne, Kate’s actual father, even though he was an alcoholic and physically abused both of them. After discovering that Wayne was her actual father, and being fed up with him abusing her mom, Kate took out an insurance policy and blew up the house with Wayne inside it. Kate began running from the law but was turned in by Ray Mullen in Australia to Edward Mars, a U.S. Marshall who captured Kate and prepared to extradite her to the U.S. aboard Oceanic Flight 815. On the Island, she became an integral member of the survivors’ society, forming strong bonds and eventually romantic relationships with Jack and Sawyer, although her true heart lays with Jack. She participated in many missions while attempting to hide her troubled past from the rest of the survivors.

Ana Lucia is a survivor of Oceanic flight 815, which crashed on to the Island on September 22nd, 2004. Before the crash, Ana Lucia was a police officer for the Los Angeles Police Department. She became pregnant, but lost the baby after being shot by a suspect at a burglary scene. The suspect is caught, but after his release, Ana Lucia kills him outside of a bar. On the Island, Ana Lucia becomes the leader of the tail section. She grows suspicious of the other suvivors after being attacked by the others several times.

Hugo is a survivor of Oceanic flight 815, which crashed on to the Island on September 22nd, 2004. Before the crash, Hugo grew up in Santa Monica, California. His father left when he was 10. He subsequently developed a eating disorder and depression and ended up in the Santa Rosa Mental Health Institute. There he met Leonard who constantly repeated the numbers 4 8 15 16 23 and 42. Hugo began actively resolving the issues that brought him to the institute. Soon after his release, he got his job back at Mr. Clucks. He played the numbers in the lottery, and won. He feels that the money was cursed. He headed to Australia to try to find out why. On the Island, Hugo was typically happy-go-lucky and kept the spirits of his fellow survivors up. He Made a golf course on the island. He struggled with being given the task of dividing up the food in the Hatch. Hugo found an old DHARMA van which he was able to get running again with the help of Charlie, Sawyer, and Jin, restoring his and the rest of the survivors’ optimism.
